Cheap Grado Prestige Series SR225i Headphones |
Product Description
What does the i stand for in the new SR225i from Grado? Improved, that’s what! Features are the same as the SR125i, new driver, cable and housing designs, but this headphone has an increased rear air flow, utilizes Grado’s larger ear cushion and has closer matched drivers. Air flow is increased by 50% which is achieved through an improved rear metal screen. The use of closer matched drivers and the larger cushions results in an enlarged soundstage, while the improved rear screen frees the headphone from colorations.Technical Details

According by Gilbert, 2011, "I have been using Sennheiser PC166's for about 2 years. It thought they sounded ok. I figured that since I use either the USB adapter that came with them or onboard audio, the audio quality from my computer would be the most limiting factor in terms of fidelity. I could not have been more wrong. The 166's sound muffled and horrible compared to the SR225i's when playing internet radio music. This review is not about comparing two headphones that are naturally worlds apart, but to let people that upgrading headphones is well worth it, even if you're not using an expensive receiver or sound card". |
HI-FI Choice "Music flows through this headphone organically and believably, with irrepressible dynamics and bounce." |
"Sounding very good at both low and high levels, these headphones are of reference quality both for the classical virtues of neutral frequency response and low coloration, as well as for their clarity and the high degree of listener involvement envoked." HI-FI News & Record Review / Martin Colloms |
"When it comes to classical music, the Grados reproduce instruments with both believable timbre and solidity. The treble boosts fine detail and no hint of agression. ... these Grados are hard to beat!" WHAT Hi-Fi |
"The SR225s sound unlike any other headphone. They have an amazingly solid presentation, packed with weight and presence. There is also a pleasant richness in the midrange that benefits all types of music." WHAT Hi-Fi |
"It figures that these Brooklyn-made phones would kick some serious butt. These babies have a pretty big sound; a powerful, tight bottom end, very articulate midrange, and a good top end. They have an airy, open quality-less in your head then most phones near their price." Audio Video / Vol. 1, No. 4 / Steve Guttenberg |
"If you are looking for a headphone to use as a reference, you may want to go up the line. To me, the SR80 is the price-performance winner." Pro Audio Review / Vol. 2, No. 5 / Tom Jung, DMP recording |
